Face to Face
I don’t carry two faces under one wood
And now, that we are here face to face,
My saying must be well understood,
Should you want to follow, and keep the pace.
I put a good face on, facing dangers,
And put a bold face in it, since I born;
But near relatives, or even strangers,
Hardly ever I pulled a face, or became stubborn…
You keep a straight face, a whithering look,
When I make a face, facing tasteless paps;
When I beg for a toy, or a colored book,
You set your face against, and give me snaps.
You have the face to say, my dear grown
“The best in the world are the children”;
But you fly in the face of “skin and bone”,
That will drop down dead, and you will drain.
I don’t face out a lie, you are not as it seems;
I laugh in your face, not listening your pray;
Let me lie down and rest, sleep, have dreams,
Wondering for a future, and a better world to stay.
Right face!, dismiss!, face the music!…
Look facts in the face: your choice is the trick
For a hell of a noise, carrying a tripod,
Or a sweet melody, in the face of God.
